Acquisition gives global equipment trader UK base
The world’s largest plant and equipment trader, International ProcessPlants (IPP), has fully established itself in the UK with the complete acquisition of Ayton Equipment Ltd. (AEL). IPP was the majority shareholder of AEL since 1991. The new name of AEL shall be International ProcessPlants (Europe) Limited.
US-based IPP, which has its headquarters in New Jersey, has 150,000 customers worldwide and has more than 100 complete plants and 30,000 pieces of process equipment on its books. IPP serves customers in the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, metal refining, paper manufacturing, power generation, and food processing industries.
Since 1975, AEL has been an established UK specialist offering manufacturers a quick and easy solution for replacement equipment, working on the theory that a plant can be brought back on line quicker and more cost effectively by installing a used component immediately, rather than waiting for a new unit to be supplied.
IPP president Ron Gale said: “IPP has grown into a vibrant multinational company with sales teams all over the world. This year alone we have introduced new sales directors in Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Korea. We are delighted to welcome AEL to the IPP family, adding its extensive European manufacturing client base and specialist refurbishing and rigging skills to our portfolio.”
“In addition to providing used plant and equipment to manufacturers as soon as they need it, IPP has developed a unique package for customers who need to sell plant and equipment – we don’t just dismantle and demolish. We can acquire all the land, buildings, plant and equipment in one deal, taking on the liabilities as well. We then unlock value through finding alternative uses for the plant, redevelopment and remediation of the sites, creating new jobs and facilities as well as selling off surplus equipment.
Our clients have already seen the benefits of this approach. We recently acquired an entire borasilicate glass making facility from Arc International for dispersal and redevelopment in Sunderland. At the former Kodak site in Kirkby, near Liverpool, after only 6 months of ownership, we have created the same number of jobs as there were when it was closed by Kodak, which is a positive outcome for the local community and Kodak. With the help of our talented staff at IPP Europe, we expect to increase our purchase of plants and equipment throughout the UK, Scandinavia and Europe generally.”
There is a great team in place at IPP Europe and we plan to expand this further with additional sales staff so we can really grow the business here in the UK and abroad.”
Tom Nash, VP of European Acquisitions said: “We have relocated the company to a new, larger stockyard and refurbishment facility at Billingham, North East England at the former ICI industrial complex, and we are fully integrating the IPP stock into our existing inventory, merging the websites and marketing functions for easy client access. The acquisition by IPP greatly enhances our customer reach and buying power.”
Jo Petrie, a long-standing member of AEL said: “Relocation to the Billingham site has seen an increase in activities with customers from around the world, UK and local industry visiting the site interested in both individual items of equipment and complete plants.”
IPP (Europe) Limited looks forward to continuing to serve Ayton Equipment’s customer base, and assisting its parent company in its commitment to providing the manufacturing industries worldwide with complete plant solutions.
