Brief Overview:
1000 standard tons per day Stamicarbon total recycle design, built by Foster Wheeler.  Current capacity is 1450 TPD at 0.585 tons ammonia to Urea with 1000 TPD Bechtel Ammonia plant.
Process Description:

The plant is designed to synthesize 1,000 short tons per stream day of urea from liquid ammonia and gaseous carbon dioxide to produce a urea melt suitable as feed to a granulating plant.  The evaporation portion concentrates urea solution from synthesis to produce urea melt and is also designed to concentrate an additional 202 short tons of urea per stream day recycled from granulation as a 45% water solution into urea melt.

The urea consists of the Urea Synthesis Section 100, which includes evaporation and condensate treatment, and the Utilities Section 300, which includes steam, cooling water, instrument air and emergency systems.  Section 100 was designed strictly in accordance with design information supplied by Stamicarbon, b.v.

Major Equipment:
  • 10,000 HP Worthington Steam turbine with extracting turbine
  • 4 stage Clark Compressor, 2200 lbs discharge pressure
  • Uraca KD813 and KD 513 Ammonia pumps
  • Nebraska Boiler (new 1995) with Super Hear bundle
  • (3) Granulation drums with Scrubbers, Screening, Elevators, Conveyors
  • Ammonia Chillers
