The Kirkby, Chemical Manufacturing site is situated in Merseyside on the Knowsley Industrial Park (North), Kirkby. The site is bounded to the south, west and north by other manufacturing and commercial units. To the east of the plant lies farmland. The nearest significant residential area is approximately 0.75km to the south of the site. The land is leased from the local authority and has 43 years remaining on the lease.

The Chemical Manufacturing site occupies approximately 37 acres. The site is now an active business park with 4 tenants and about 140 employees on site in total.

Remaining unused assets owned by IPP
Misc supporting functions.

The site is very secure with complete perimeter fencing and 24x7 security guard cover, including comprehensive CCTV surveillance and pass entry systems. The site provides the additional following facilities;

The Kirkby site is located in Kirkby, near Liverpool and close to port, airport and motorway networks. The synthetic chemicals plant and associated facilities were built in 1980 by Kodak. It is a multi purpose , fine chemicals batch manufacturing facility, located at the Image Business Park Kirkby site on Acornfield Road, which is part of a larger industrial complex known as The Knowsley Industrial Park. The main Syn Chem plant is located in building K82 on the east side of the site, with the majority of the associated storage, laboratories and other supporting equipment close to K82.

The Syn Chem plant when operational was certified to ISO 9002, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards and is subject to the Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) Regulations and had two IPC authorisations (Syn Chem IPC registration AL6760). It was also a lower tier site under the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 1999. IPP purchased the site and all plant and equipment from Kodak in late 2007
