Brief Overview:

Application

P-Hydroxybenzoic acid (pHBA) is a versatile intermediate in the manufacture of bacteriostatic agents specially for parabenes (alkyl esters of p-Hydroxy benzoic acid) which are used in food and personal care products as a preservative. p-Hydroxybenzoic acid is applied in the production of liquid crystal polymers.  It is also used as an intermediate of dyes, pharmaceuticals, insecticides, pesticides, plasticizers and many other chemical compounds.

This cost efficient and technically optimized production process can be operated in the state of the art plant equipment, less than 6 years old.

Process Description:

Starting material for the production of p-Hydroxybenzoic acid is phenol which is carboxylated under low pressure using KOH as base.

The reaction product is precipitated, isolated and subsequently washed, dried and stored in a silo prior to packing.
