Choline Chloride (Vit. B12)-14,000 TPY
Stock Number: 600277
Capacity: 14,000 tons per year
Status: Available
Technology: ICI
Documentation: Click Here for a Presentation of the Complete Facility
Products Produced:
Choline Chloride
Brief Overview:
  • This unit is part of an integrated facility that sits on 57 acres of land, two-thirds of which are undeveloped.  The facility produces Methyl Amines for use in Higher Amines and Amine Derivatives.
  • The purpose of the Choline Chloride Plant is to react together imported hydrochloric acid with TMA from the methylamines plant and imported EO to produce Choline Chloride.
  • The current capacity of the plant is approx. 14,000 tpa
Process Description:

This unit has BATCH front end (reaction) and a CONTINUOUS distillation operation.  This derivatives unit produces Choline Chloride at the rate of 14,000 MTA by the reaction of TMA (from Methylamines Plant) with hydrochloric acid and then EO in a glass lined, batch reactor.  Crude choline chloride is purified in a continuous glass distillation column.  Piping in this plant is primarily glass lined or Titanium.  Heat exchangers are primarily carbon block.  Approximately 200 tons of aqueous choline chloride is stored at the site in four tanks, located adjacent to the west side of the plant.  Hydrochloric acid is stored in a tank, adjacent to the east side of the plant.
