Brine Stripping Column (Stock #216093):
Light organics can be removed using the stripping column. This particular application was removing di-methyl amine from a level of about 5% down to a level of less than 18 ppm. Brine feed to the stripper is preheated to approximately 235°F. The 40,000 lbs/hr of brine feed to the stripper enters at the top of the column as a liquid and flows down through the packing into the stripper pot.
At the same time, 1,200 lbs/hr of steam is introduced at the bottom of the stripper, just above the liquid level in the stripper pot. The steam travels up the column and vaporizes any light organics out of the brine solution. The steam and light organics exit the top of the stripper and pass through an entrainment separator used to knock out entrained liquid (primarily brine) while allowing the steam and light organic vapors to pass through the stripper overheads condenser. This exchanger condenses the steam and light organics, which can be reworked or disposed. A level is maintained in the brine stripper pot to insure that the evaporator feed pump suction is flooded. The brine from the stripper is then pumped to the first effect of the evaporator. The 297 cu. ft., 304SS stripper column is 30" (d) x 62' (l) and is rated for FV/180 psig at 400°F. It was manufactured in 2000.
Brine Stripper Overhead Condenser (Stock #216092):
The Brine Stripper Condenser has 1,335 sq. ft. of surface area and 304SS tubes, heads, and shell. The shell is rated for 60 psig at 250oF, and the tubes are rated for 150 psig at 250°F. It is 16" (d) x 435" (l) and was constructed in 1999.
Brine Stripper Preheater (Stock #216032):The Brine Stripper Preheater has 173 sq. ft. of surface area and 304SS tubes, heads, and shell. The shell and tubes are rated for 300 psig at 400°F. It is 12" (d) x 10’ (l) and was constructed in 1996.
