The feed in the previous service was 5.5 mt/hr of mixed amines with methanol. An internal condenser (321 stainless steel) is used in the top of this column to condense the methanol in the overhead stream. The condensed methanol is collected in a catch pan. Some is used for the column reflux and the remainder is sent to storage. In the previous service, 1.4 mt/hr of methanol was recovered. Live-steam is injected into the bottom of the column to provide the separation momentum. In the previous service, the live steam injection was 2.5 mt/hr of 2.8 bar (40-psig) steam and the bottoms flow was 6.5 mt/hr of mixed amines and water.
