Process Description
Synthesis gas is produced by passing Natural Gas over a
nickel catalyst while adding heat at an operating pressure of About 100
psig.
Conversion to methanol is accomplished through 2 identical ICI process
loops. The Synthesis gas, containing Hydrogen, CO2, and CO, is compressed to a
pressure of 900 psig, then converted to crude methanol by passing over a
copper catalyst.
The crude methanol is then distilled to remove water, impurities to
produce AA grade methanol.
Methanol Plant.
